Explore Alien Sightings & Abductions

A Community of Believers

An alien abduction could happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. Some believe these abductions are real occurrences, actual contact with other-worldly beings. Science believes these situations are a result of mental illness. Either way, people who claim to have been abducted by aliens are able to express their beliefs in other-worldly beings. There are many social groups who believe these abductions are real. There is also a major market for alien related events and memorabilia. Within these groups, abductees feel special or different. They are regarded as enlightened or lucky. Many abduction cases describe similar occurrences. Bright lights, strange beings, and paralysis. Are these abductees dreaming or did they experience extraterrestrial contact?

What is Folklore?

"Folklore is informally-learned, unofficial knowledge about the world, ourselves, our communities, our beliefs, our cultures and our traditions, that is expressed creatively through words, music, customs, actions, behaviors and materials. It is also the interactive, dynamic process of creating, communicating, and performing as we share that knowledge with other people." (Sims & Stephens)
